  • Will the motor work on any kayak or canoe?
    · Yes, the (locked steering) motor can mount on any hard sided kayak or canoe. The Steering versions of our product work best when mounted on sit-in kayaks. · It will not work on inflatable watercraft.
  • Why should I buy from Glide Motors?

  • Can I use the motor in saltwater or freshwater?
    We recommended using our motors in freshwater lakes, streams, and rivers until later iterations are released. While our motors will work in salt water, they may be damaged overtime. Please note that saltwater is highly corrosive, and we recommend rinsing off the motor after each use to maintain its functionality over time.
  • Can I fish hands free with the motor?
    Yes, our steering motors are controlled with your feet via pedals in the boat allowing you to fish or relax while still moving forward.
  • How do I use a Glide Motor?
    · With our steering versions, the motor is controlled by our remote control and existing or installed pedals on your kayak. If your kayak does not already have movable pedals, our included pedals can be installed in minutes. · With our non-steering versions, the motor is controlled by our remote control. This version does not require movable pedals and is compatible with any hard-sided watercraft such as Kayaks, Canoes, and other small watercrafts. To steer this design, simply drag your paddle in the direction you would like to turn.
  • Will the motor work in lakes with weeds and grass?
    · Our motors spin at up to four times higher than our competitor’s designs, cutting through most weeds and debris you may encounter.
  • What size battery do I need?
    Most Common Option: 12 Volt 100Ah Lithium Ion Battery. Highest Performance Option: 18 Volt 100Ah Lithium Ion Battery. Any battery with a nominal voltage of 12 to 18 volts is compatible with the Glide Motor. This includes deep-cycle marine batteries or car batteries. For optimal performance, we recommend a lightweight lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 100Ah or higher. A water-resistant battery box with protective fuses or GFCI safety systems is also required.
  • Can I install the motor myself?
    Many of our products take ~5 minutes to install. All hardware and instructions are included with the motor. Anyone with a Phillips-head screwdriver can install the motor on their own. See our instruction manual in the files section of our website or view our YouTube channel to view instillation instructions.
  • How do I achieve top performance?
    A high output 18 volt battery is required to reach top speeds and performance metrics.
  • What happens if my motor stops working?
    See if your issue is found in the FAQ. If not, reach out through our Glide Motors website chat as we walk through possible issues. If a defect is found in your product, simply follow our return policy.
  • How do I connect the motor to the battery?
    Simply connect the power wires red to red, and black to black when using your preferred battery option. If you are using our batteries, simply follow our included instructions.
  • Do I need a circuit breaker?
    We recommend using an off-the-shelf waterproof battery box with one installed to ensure user safety. Our lithium batteries also include circuit breakers. Our motors will automatically shut down if there is an electrical issue.
  • Why is my motor “beeping”?
    Any “beeping” is an error code, this means something went wrong with the motor. Power the motors off and on again, and check the instruction manual to see what code the motor is conveying. Make sure to contact us through our website messaging platforms to resolve issues.
